1.  Foundations of Musical Theater Dance  M100  (ages 8-18)  
Teacher: Carol Manseau-Campbell.  THIS CLASS IS FULL
Assistant: 
5, 6, 7, 8! It's time to get up and dance! Step up to all the basic techniques that will prepare you to take on any form of dance. Beyond the standard ballet positions you'll learn how to chasse, channe, pirouette, kick, leap, and more. Whether you want to learn Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, or Ballroom, this class will give you the foundation you’ll need to succeed.

Benchmarks:
Understand and articulate the principles of dance, including grace, fluidity, discipline, strength, flexibility, technique, control, musicality, and style
Execute basic dance technique
Name techniques when someone else demonstrates them
Understand and demonstrate basic foundational dance technique, such as the following principles: Holding one's center; finding proper placement of arms, torso, shoulders, hips, etc; being turned out; being turned in; spotting; and using focus
Pick up basic dance combinations and execute them from memory

SPECIALTY CLASSES
 
2.  Intermediate Voice (ages 12 to 18) "Evolution of Music"  Prerequisite - Foundations of Voice and one other Foundation class (drama, or dance)
Teacher - Jeannette Manser
The Evolution of Music!  Go back in time from the 1920's all the way through 2023, in this fun class of how music and style evolved.
Benchmarks:
Learn about the period and history of selected genre of vocal music
Distinguish the specifics of this style as it relates to: lyrics used, mood, articulation style, dynamics, structure of song, storyline
Identify and demonstrate the following: catch breathing, group dynamics, counter melody, Italian tempo, dynamic, and articulation markings
Demonstrate proficient articulation and diction
Discuss and demonstrate stage presence and acting through song


3.  Prop Till You Drop (ages 8 -18)  Prerequisite - Two (2) Foundations Courses
Teacher:  Melodie Bredo  THIS CLASS IS FULL
This is a hands-on class created to give students an understanding of the "props" process in theater, as well as how props are made and handled onstage and backstage.  At the completion of the course, students will understand the process of creating props, from reading the script to being used on stage. Students will also design and create simple props for stage, and have a basic understanding of painting and craft techniques associated with theater props. 


4.  Partner Dance (ages 12-18)  Prerequisite - 12 year olds must have Foundations of Musical Theater Dance M100.  
No prerequisite for those 13 and older.
   THIS CLASS IS FULL
This class will have even enrollment between gentlemen and ladies.   Participants will have no set "partner".
Teacher: Stephanie Orr

Grab your partner and dance on over. This class will get you tear; it up in the middle of the dance floor with your partner in no time! Jump into basic skills of partnering that apply to all styles of Ballroom dance.  You’ll learn the basics of Waltz, Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Swing,  and more!  And most importantly, we will focus on developing a strong sense of trust and commitment so that you can always approach a new partner with confidence—no matter what song they’re playing.  
Benchmarks:
Show individual progress in the areas of technique, strength, control, trust, and give-and-take with a partner
Demonstrate basic partnering skills, such as holding their center, maintaining a consistent frame with their partners, being sensitive to their partners' needs, adjusting and adapting to each new partner they dance with
Execute basic partnering steps within the context of each style of Ballroom, such as basic footwork, various supported turns, spins, poses, dips, and various lifts
Freestyle in each form of Ballroom covered, including Foxtrot, Rumba, Swing, Waltz, etc.
Identify what form of Ballroom is appropriate for each song in a varied musical play list
 
5.  Musical Theater - Mary Poppins   (ages 8 to 18)   Prerequisite - all three Foundations classes
THIS CLASS IS FULL
Teacher - Anne McLarenLet your creativity take flight through dance, drama and singing. Jump into the magical world of musical theater by exploring dance choreography, vocal technique and how to portray a character. Become a triple threat through warm-ups, group activities, theater games and performance. By the end of class, you’ll be ready to take center stage and shine as one of the show-stoppers in the showcase!
Benchmarks:
Execute a series of basic vocal warm-up techniques when being prompted and guided by the instructor. Examples may include diaphragmatic breathing, lip trills, and scales incorporating various vowels and consonants.
Actively participate in group acting games and exercises that incorporate the body and voice, some of which focus on connecting with a single partner and others that focus on engaging an entire group.
Perform basic dance steps often incorporated into musical theatre choreography. Examples may include jazz squares, grapevine, step touches, step kicks, chine turns, step ball-changes, pivot turns, etc.
Engage their bodies and voices simultaneously through musical theatre numbers that call for them to act, sing, and dance.
Perform in a small group or ensemble musical theatre number from start to finish while beginning to show signs of confidence, focus, energy, and stage presence.
